@physicsdude
nobody is stalking you buddy-- lets just chill out a bit. grae313 meant no harm, and i highly doubt anybody else who posts here does either.
i had always thought that astro was much more relaxed than physics and a whole lot less pretentious. Its why I picked astro grad schools over physics. So lets live up to that and calm down!

I have a question, your stat say 1 sem grad..., aren't u guys in quater sysytem?
An "Insitit. of tech" that is not on 5.0 GPA scale and have gravitational wave research, can it not be in California?

Re: Astronomy Acceptances
For anyone who's waiting on Harvard still, they say they're done making offers.
Re: Astronomy Acceptances
For anyone who got into Hopkins, I go there currently (not in astro), but if you have any questions about Hopkins in general, or Baltimore, let me know.
Re: Astronomy Acceptances
KB,
Do you mean Harvard astro, or Harvard physics, or both?

Re: Astronomy Acceptances
I've heard from penn state, hawaii, berkeley, arizona, texas, and colorado. Still waiting on santa cruz, wisconsin, mit, cornell, and chicago. All astro, and I got into hawaii which is one of my top choices, so I'll prolly be going there.

Admiralewd: Where did you get in? Are you visiting Hawaii? I got in there too and it's definitely up there for me as well. Who doesn't want to live in Hawaii for 5 or 6 years?
Re: Astronomy Acceptances
Has anyone heard a peep from Chicago astro?

I was wondering about Chicago too. Also Columbia and Santa Cruz too. I'd guess they'd say something before March 15th right?
Re: Astronomy Acceptances
My friend heard from Chicago about 3 weeks ago. The visit weekend is in April so that leads me to believe that they're doing a second round soonish.

KB: I got in hawaii, penn state, and texas. Rejected from Berkeley and Arizona, also just heard from colorado and a rejection there. Not surprising really, berkeley is probably out of my league and I still am unsure if arizona got all my materials in spite of several phone calls! Colorado surprised me a little, I even talked to professors there and several sounded great to work with.KB wrote:Admiralewd: Where did you get in? Are you visiting Hawaii? I'm visiting hawaii in march, sits nicely with my spring break. Just a shame I live so so far away, meaning 10-15 hour flight, 5-6 hour time zone changes, and upwards of $1000 for a round trip. But yea, so far it probably would've been one of my top choices even assuming I got in everywhere, fantastic place to live, one of the top astronomy programs, and jeze... HAWAII!
Re: Astronomy Acceptances
Anyone hear from UCLA astronomy? Someone reported a reject which was available through the website, anyone receive any admits?
Re: Astronomy Acceptances
yeah, got a phone call and email last week for UCLA
Re: Astronomy Acceptances
I'm just starting the process of investigating APS at CU Boulder to see if I can juggle a career and grad school at the same time, as well as getting back into academia after a *very* long time away (http://www.physicsgre.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1366).KB wrote:Hey guys,
I'm getting tired of wading through all of the physics grad school posts for news on Astronomy/Astrophysics schools.

I've heard so far from Boulder, Arizona and Hawaii
Boulder is beautiful, as is Hawaii. I had a chance to live on Maui for a year doing research.
