Should the polls go back on the main page?

This forum is in mutiny, it's falling apart and rebels have been taking over. Polls are being fired incessantly at the main page. davidchen tried to defile the profile thread. Astro students have seceded and formed their own thread. Innocent posters have had their comments thrown into the dungeon referred to under the euphemism of "lounge." Female users have lashed out against some male users. We need a leader to save us, we need GARDEN!!!

According to prophecy he will come again to judge us and rain down fire with his crazy fire breathing eye-sockets. It doesn't have to make sense, it's relgious. So it is written.

The polls are entertaining. Sending them off to physics lounge only places incredibly boring conversations on the main page.

no he said he's only 90% sure he would do it, or he'd win nobel prize...

Edit: I do think the polls were getting out of hand. We don't want so many up there that the most important threads no longer show up on a user's page without scrolling down.

Who says graduate school is more important than deciding which cartoon is the best?

I'll only be in graduate school for 6 years, tops, but I'll be watching TV for the rest of my life.

And besides, the "important" threads work themselves naturally back onto the main page as people reply to them.

I never use the front page--I go straight to the forums and look for the orange icon for unread posts. I didn't realize that posts from the lounge don't show up on the front page, and I also didn't realize it would be a big inconvenience to have them under a separate forum heading... if everyone really wants everything in one place it's fine with me. I was just responding to the comments that people were finding it difficult to find information about admissions because of all the extra stuff. There is a forum for the extra stuff, so I put the extra stuff there. But again, I just thought you guys would like it better. If the pole says otherwise, I'm happy to put them back.

No hard feelings, grae313.

I never use the forums off the main page. The main page says new/active topics. I only respond to threads I know people are reading. I never look through the other forums. Some of those discussions ended years ago and the users have moved on to bigger and better things.

but when you log in, you can just follow the orange icons to the new posts. I only look at threads that have new posts since the last time I logged in.

It's been interesting tonight guys, but I'm out.

I still have to go shave.

Since I'm not allowed to start any polls on the main page everyone can guess what I'm shaving but they can only do so quietly, to themselves.

If RG were online now he'd take that comment to the next level, and then 400nm would delete her account

Speaking of deleting accounts...

I tried to update my account details and now my account is deactivated. I have no idea how to reactivate. This is *** horseshit.

I had the most goddamn posts, too.

Seriously, I can't recover my account details because I looked at my account and realized I put my real email address. Since it is my policy to keep that private I decided to change it. Well, apparently your account requires reactivation after that, which obviously I can't do because I picked some random bullshit email. So I guess I won't be posting here anymore, since I lost my username and all my posting stats.

This really irritates me. What kind of forum requires you to REACTIVATE your account? And worse, doesn't tell you beforehand that it's required for ANY kind of change.

did you see my post about PMing grant? alternately, you could post all future comments one letter per post. You'll be back up to 400 in no time!

It says "you must enter a message when posting."

Bah, if I have to go through that again I'm giving up.

It's like running a marathon and you get near the end and someone is like

"Sir, you forgot to put on your number. Please start again at the beginning."

Uhm, no thanks.

Instead of starting a new poll, who thinks this is an impostor?
