Applied Physics/ Physics

  • This has become our largest and most active forum because the physics GRE is just one aspect of getting accepted into a graduate physics program.
  • There are applications, personal statements, letters of recommendation, visiting schools, anxiety of waiting for acceptances, deciding between schools, finding out where others are going, etc.

Applied Physics/ Physics

In Applied Physics programs, can one receive a physics PHD just with different areas of study in the curriculum? I researched a source where Applied Physics programs don't offer Physics PHD's but only PHD's in physics related fields... Is this true?

Applied Physics programs offer Ph.D.s in Applied Physics. The only way you can get a Ph.D. in physics is through a Physics program.
