NSF GRFP results up

  • This has become our largest and most active forum because the physics GRE is just one aspect of getting accepted into a graduate physics program.
  • There are applications, personal statements, letters of recommendation, visiting schools, anxiety of waiting for acceptances, deciding between schools, finding out where others are going, etc.

I got honorable mention, does that mean anything or is it just a polite rejection.

It's better than a rejection! Plus you got valuable feedback for next year's application (or the year after's).

It's a lot better than a rejection. Not everyone gets an honorable mention. I think it's something like 16,000 applicants, 2000 awards and 2000 honorable mentions (the # of honorable mentions is about the same as the # of awards). So getting one means you are in the top quartile of applicants. Try again next year!
