Necessary knowledge for doing Biophysics?

Post by phyalan » Fri May 04, 2012 11:08 am

Dear all, my major is physics and mathematics in UG and I am planning to do biophysics for my PhD but I am not sure what sorts of physics or mathematics theory/knowledge will be essential/helpful to start my path. Is there anyone who are already in this field and can provide me with some advice? Thank you very much! :D

The biophys class I took was mostly thermodynamics, particularly the Gibbs potential.

As far as going from physics / math to biophys, the big thing is learning the chemistry.

Thank you for your advice CarlBrannen. I am currently reviewing my chemistry, however, at first year level only. I would also like to if it would be beneficial if I know something about dynamical system, such as bifurcation theory or something like that?
