Yes, it is still blank.pymtab wrote: Thanks, that's soothing to hear. Is your PDF still missing the "complete enough for review" status?

I got waitlisted at UC Irvine for the area of Astrophysics (particularly CMB polarization). They said it's a 3 person waitlist so if anyone is in to UCI and knows they aren't going to go there, please let them know as soon as you can.
Good luck to all!
Good luck to all!

Mailed Recs No current status. Please check back later

So yes, there are only two items left in status page.

Hmm, never thought about moving early, seems like a good idea.WhoaNonstop wrote:Some people have suggested that relaxing is a good idea, such as getting some mindless job. However, I'll be pushing some of the schools I've been accepted to for a research position during the summer. A lot of them actually offer them but some of them don't. Otherwise, even if I wasn't able to acquire that I would probably move to the area anyways so I could become familiar with it before all the "fun" begins. ;Dfandangoya wrote:So for those of us who already have acceptances, what are you planning on doing with this summer before heading to grad school?

Anyway, I'm looking to unwind this summer so I'm going on Phish tour

Re: 2011 Acceptances and profile discussions
I am getting so freakin antsy. At this point, I'd almost take a rejection, so long as I hear back from a school soon.
Why is there such a delay between the first offers of admission, and everyone else? I'm looking at you, Michigan, UT Austin, Seattle, ....

I personally won't really begin to think about which school until I hear back from the others. I want to give each school a fair shake.
I'm sure its something like that...I'm just really frustrated. It's like schools in the 30-80 range offer in early Feb, 10-30 in late feb, and 1-10 in the last week of feb/early march. But of course everyone is waiting for the top schools to make their choices, and of course its the top schools that have had the applications for the longest. Some schools I've contacted haven't even started looking at applications, so it really makes me wonder.

Offer from Rochester Optics PhD this morning....
To add to the current dialogue, I've noticed a similar trend while I wait with some of my friends in the same department for responses... I've also noticed that, oddly enough, I've heard back from every optics program I applied to, yet I haven't heard back from a single physics program...

Congratulations! We want you to pursue your PhD in physics at Harvard.

Sorry harv, pton was first. tough luck, negru.

Re: 2011 Acceptances and profile discussions
Hello all, this is my first post. I plan to post my profile soon.
I'm an international student and I got my first university notification yesterday, from Texas A&M. They said that they're "currently very limited in financial resources", and that they do accept me but I would have to get a fellowship from my country or something. Has anyone of you gotten something like this? (I suppose this particularly goes to the international applicants). Do you think they really cut on the number of acceptances this year, or do they always send this kind of message (every year)?

Re: 2011 Acceptances and profile discussions
I have seen this happen in previous years, but it usually isn't a typical response from a physics program. Of course, there may be less funding for students this year, but I've seen a few universities make this kind of offer in the past. That is, if the applicant can find external funding or even fund himself, they'd accept him/her. Of course, your best option is to wait for any other offers.waitingsucks wrote:Hello all, this is my first post. I plan to post my profile soon.

Just browsing the updated profiles and wanted to say a congrats to matto07 on the first page. Excellent research experience and a general record of accomplishment elsewhere in the app + mediocre PGRE and unknown undergrad institution = fellowship to Cornell.
It's not all about the PGRE, folks!
Edit: also, I bet playing piano professionally was a plus.

So much for the PGRE killing my chances at a Physics career path! HA!
Now I have a decision to make.

Thanks! Overcoming horrible test-taking skills is my forte...
Congrats to those recently accepted to MIT, Harvard, Princeton, or anywhere for that matter!
Still eagerly waiting on Harvard...(hurry up and reject me!!!)

I need to hear back from somewhere. Tempted to drive to california and sit in some grad school's admissions office and use the persuasion tactic we all perfected when we were 5:
Am I in yet? .... Am I in yet? .... Am I in yet? .... ...

just got accepted to Boulder for condensed matter via email
Re: 2011 Acceptances and profile discussions
Wait-listed @Harvard. The email is titled "fairly good news"
They also invite me to the open house, but they didn't say whether it's paid for.
