Could you enumerate some of the important Experiments / Phenomena PGRE student should be familiar with.....

I knew a few of them...

I would suggest any decent (think sophomore-level) book on modern physics, e.g. Taylor & Zafiratos or Halliday & Resnick, with an eye for these sorts of things. Most of the ones you will need for the test will be covered in some detail.
