where will 900 take me?

Post by jones » Tue Jan 06, 2009 6:35 am

I got 900 in my Physics GRE. How good a score is that? Will it get me into the top 10 universities? I have a 4.0 GPA in my physics courses and about 3.8 overall. Also, I'm a US citizen but I'm doing my undergraduate college in India, so will I be considered an international student or a US student?

A domestic with a 900, strong GPA, and an otherwise good application should have no problem getting accepted to most universities (including top ten). I don't know how having done college in India will affect things, but my guess is that it won't hurt you much and you might be able to use it to play up the diversity card, maybe somebody else knows for sure.

No offense, but it very rare to see an American studying undergrad in India and if you have given subject test this year at Bangalore, then i think i remember seeing you..

It would be good if you could put your profile in "2009 profiles" thread. Research and all, matter a lot for top 10, from what I have heard..

And I think you should be taken as a domestic student, since you hold American passport.

@secander: thanks a lot, i hope that helps.

@sidharth: well i'm basically an indian born in the us, so i have a us passport/citizenship but did all my education in india, so this is why i don't know if i'll be considered an american student or international student for my admissions. also, i'll be applying for fall 2010, i wrote my gre a year early.
