RETURN OF GARDEN

  • This has become our largest and most active forum because the physics GRE is just one aspect of getting accepted into a graduate physics program.
  • There are applications, personal statements, letters of recommendation, visiting schools, anxiety of waiting for acceptances, deciding between schools, finding out where others are going, etc.

Twistor, why are you never able to find garden's proverbs??

Last time garden came, RG brought it to our attention on January 30, and you said, on this very thread,
twistor wrote:huh? Where?!
His post is in the "worried about prelims" thread!
Worried About Prelims
garden wrote:I just wonder why don't we discuss and solve all of sh*t difficult problem we may know from anywhere at here?
garden's appearances are too precious and rare to disregard, please pay better attention!

One of the things that really fascinates me is that it appears garden is always lurking invisibly near the forum, even when it seems like he's in another world and never around. Since he typed the word "sh*t" in his post, he must have been present during the censorship disputes of February to know about the filter. Back in his original post, which started with, "I would say that you guys should (f-word) off the school with damn committee...," he did not exercise such restraint.

being a late arrival on the forum, i had to pore over the ancient texts to find the origin of this mysterious "garden" personality..and I must admit that my powers of reasoning failed me when I stumbled across his epic post circa. Tue Dec 04, 2007...

Of course garden was present during the discussion. garden is omnipresent. garden is all. His Holiness was overseeing the whole thing. He came to be in a dream and said,

"*** off the grant with damn censorship policy"

Haha! Yes! References to the mysterious garden are scattered all over the forum in countless threads and posts. Future generation physics students will scan the archives of the forum and wonder who he is they keep reading about, and how he became so revered. But if they're familiar with the "search" feature of the forum, they can trace it all back to 12/4/07.

So true.

What's really disappointing is that RG was on the forum today and didn't even acknowledge this miraculous phenomenon. It looks like RG and grae313 are too overwhelmed with grad school options to make posts on physicsgre.com

Yes, well, I just got back from Cornell and before that I took a trip on my motorcycle to San Diego (unrelated business). Also, I am *** off the forum with the damn excel. :D

No need to be disappointed quiz!
By the way, who the hell is this garden after all( I think I am doomed to grim fate now for questioning the identity of an almighty))?

EDIT: I just saw jia visiting the forum. HE/she was the creator of Nov 3 GRE score thread where we all inferiors had a chance to read garden's cryptic post !

jia was actually a manifestation of garden. garden created the Nov 3 thread just to set himself up to make his historic post.

The probability of getting 3 garden posts in one day is as small as the probability of being accepted to all of the top 10 grad schools with a 210 PGRE, a 2.1 GPA as an international student with a criminal record.

quiz I hope you do not end up being a comedian at Princeton. Your posts are so freaking hilarious. Every time I open my computer and start reading your posts I make sure that there is space for me to roll down on the floor and laugh my ass off.

Lets make fun of plasma physicists! How about thatquiz. I am sure admissionprof can help us with this.

It appears that the omnipresent garden has observed some of the recent tiffs that we have had in the forum and has returned with advice for us...

As to what garden means by hitting to the back door and who this mysterious crapy dude is, I don't have a clue.

I have some insight. Consider the sentence, "No matter how hard I try my wife just won't let me hit the back door."

Odd. I picked up one of those at a garage sale. When I wear it people say to me, "Are you the quizivex" and I respond, "No, I am merely one of many quizivices."

Hmm. I've made over 400 posts, 5-10 of which include your name... but if you hadn't deleted all of your obnoxious posts, we could verify that over half of them were either insults directed at me or attempts to refute things I've said. So who's gay now? Especially after that post where you asked all of us to kiss your beautiful ass, which you since have deleted...
physicsdude wrote:You should tell everybody that "plasma physics" at Princeton is not even a part of the physics department, and that Einstein could have never walked where the Plasma Lab is, as that is not even in Princeton, but many miles away.
In fact, I said the same exact thing (minus the Einstein part, too bad he wasn't around when fusion research started) when I wrote a profile of the plasma program on this forum a few days ago. Looks like there wasn't enough room to fit a huge government lab on the main campus, and that the two departments are separate for administrative convenience. I'll have more resources than I know what to do with... while you're working with one person on one thing that probably doesn't matter.

I can't believe a topic dedicated to the return of the Wise One has been spoiled by hate.

Even after garden Himself replied the thread saying: "Life is so short to waste time to hate anyone!"

I wanted to acknowledge garden's third return to the forum that took place when we least expected it on Monday, May 26, 2008.

I was appalled by Tickets's post because he should know that in this forum, we do not need a proof that God exists, since we wouldn't care either way... On physicsgre.com, we worship garden!

garden clearly is a kind god. He wants us to find our own way... but when it is most needed, he will not hesitate to provide us with heavenly advice. as this year's users begin to slip away from the forum, garden bestowed upon them some eternally useful advice...

garden's advice was to switch from heavy, bulky textbooks to computerized books. He insinuated this fact with his post:
garden wrote:LMAO,

BOOKS?

I have packing all of my book to a single box, it is weighted 200grm!

E->W
However, we mortals were not sublimely intelligent enough to recognize what he was saying. But garden, being a kind god, came back again to clarify the meaning of his words so we would not forever be lost in confusion.
garden wrote:LMAO!

200grm = 1DVD, grae313
The same day I saw garden's post, I saw an ad in Scientific American magazine about a new device they're coming out with... it's a e-book reader, a portable device with a screen that can be used to display e-books (it's not a computer screen because like an etchasketch it doesn't require continuous power to display a page. it also wouldn't be uncomfortable to look at like a webpage on a computer monitor).

Later on, I dug out a CD that a friend of mine had burned for me 3 years ago, it contins tons of PDF files of physics stuff... I realized that Griffith's quantum text, which I always wanted a copy of, was on that disk the whole time!!! if only I had paid closer attention to what was on that disk... I've come to the realization ... e-books will be the new big thing. Thanks to garden's words, we can save ourselves from lugging hundreds of pounds of books across the country, and if we make the switch now, it will help us immensely over the next 5-6 years.

As for the heiroglyphic "E->W", I believe that because garden's post was on the "Who's moving out of state?" therad, he is implying that he's moving from the East coast to the West coast for graduate school.

Incredible. Thank you Father!
