"Free" PhysicsGRE.com T-shirts

Post by Grant » Thu Mar 13, 2008 10:45 am

The PhysicsGRE.com T-shirts are designed to promote PhysicsGRE.com and to encourage participation in certain aspects of PhysicsGRE.com with the goal of helping prospective and current physics graduate students.

Image

It looks a lot better in person. It is a haines tagless t-shirt that is a "natural" color instead of white. The ink is black. The sizes we currently have are M, L, and XL.

To get a PhysicsGRE.com t-shirt mailed to you free of any charge you need to follow the four steps below.

Step I - You need to provide a continental US address for us to send the t-shirt to. This address can be a friend who lives in the US and can foward the t-shirt to you, your physics department address, a P.O. Box, your work address, your address, etc.

Step II - You will need to complete whatever the current simple task is. If you scroll down to the bottom of this thread you will see the current simple task.

Step III - After you complete the simple task you will need to send a private message to the username "Mrs.grant" (see the post immediately below this one to clearly see how to send a PM to Mrs.grant) and in the private message be sure to indicate your size (M, L, or XL), the continental US address to mail the shirt to, and provide a link to the task you completed to meet the simple task qualifications of Step II.

Step IV - Understand that PhysicsGRE.com reserves the right to refuse any request for a free t-shirt for any reason without even needing to provide justification. However, if you are a legitimate person who is not trying to abuse a free t-shirt system and you completed the simple task in a manner that will benefit current and future physics students then you can feel confident you will receive your free shirt.

Notes:

By default we do not allow a person to earn more than one free PhysicsGRE.com t-shirt. If you want another t-shirt for free then I am sure we can work something out but it will not be as easy completing another simple task. It will be more along the lines of completing a simple task times two or a simple task squared.

To send a private message to Mrs.grant you need to be logged and then you can click the icon on the left that looks like an envelope. Below is an example of what you send:

Note: Currently we have sent t-shirts to everybody who has contacted Mrs.grant.

Current Simple Task

You currently have two simple tasks to choose from.

1) Reply to one of the school profile threads.
http://www.physicsgre.com/viewforum.php?f=16
Note: You don't have to be an authority on a school to share your knowledge. Also, you don't have to write something long to add value. For example, if you are considering a particular school then you could simply write a few sentences about why you are considering a particular school.

OR

2) Write an article.

Note: Writing an article is quite a bit more involved than adding a few sentences to a profile. However, if there are people sitting on the fence waiting to write an article then perhaps this will provide some motivation.
