Advice please: taking GRE twice

  • This has become our largest and most active forum because the physics GRE is just one aspect of getting accepted into a graduate physics program.
  • There are applications, personal statements, letters of recommendation, visiting schools, anxiety of waiting for acceptances, deciding between schools, finding out where others are going, etc.

Advice please: taking GRE twice

Post by Dcarl » Thu Aug 30, 2007 7:32 pm

Greetings everyone.

I'm a graduate of rutgers with a BA in physics 3.94. I took an upper level course in QM and in Classical at Northeastern with a 4.0. I currently work as a lab assistant in a physics program in a local state college.

My question is whether It would be wise to take the physics GRE again before applying for fall 2008. My old score is a 660 (50%).

I feel like I could do better, though I'm not sure how much better. Also, would it be better to take the october or the november test? Is november too late?

BTW, the schools I'm hoping to apply to are Brandeis, Boston College, Tufts, Rutgers, Northeastern, Temple, UPenn, Drexel.

Thanks folks

Thanks for your input.
