Neither one will get you into a graduate program alone (except maybe the bottom-ranked ones), as there are other important factors bearing weight (your research experience, letters of rec, and your general apparent ambition).

However, screw either one up and you will probably be passed up by most top-ranked programs.

hey

i'm a CS engineer. working for the 2nd year now. i want to get back to physics. bcos that's where my heart really is! i mailed a school and they said i could give the GRE subject test and that would help.

but can i really get back?

i gave GRE days back and got Quant - 800 and Verbal - 640 . and i'm willing to slog up for the GRE physics. is there a chance for me? where all can i hope to get in?
pleeeeeeeeeeease help.
