Decision Dates 2017

  • This has become our largest and most active forum because the physics GRE is just one aspect of getting accepted into a graduate physics program.
  • There are applications, personal statements, letters of recommendation, visiting schools, anxiety of waiting for acceptances, deciding between schools, finding out where others are going, etc.

I have been in constant communication with ~4 schools approaching today. I've been accepted by 2 of them. ALL FOUR SCHOOLS DROPPED OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH TODAY... On April 15th!!! Are you serious??? Do I lose my offers now??? Why don't any of them have people checking their emails on the most important day of the freaking admissions cycle? I at least now have an extension for the school that I'll probably end up going to, which is good. I'm just mad at the other ones that havent bothered to tell me that I'm rejected

Good lord that was an insanely hard decision. Really down to the wire for me. There's a good chance that if the deadline had been a day sooner or a day later I would have chosen differently--that's how many times I changed my mind! There were even some coin tosses involved. Happy to be headed off to Chicago (Astro) and SO relieved to be done with this crazy admissions process!! Best of luck to everyone. :D

Wow! Decision Dates 2017 has until now 455 posts, while Decision Dates 2016 had only 180! We were a very active group! :D

It was quite a ride. I'm very pleased with how things ended: I'm heading to California. :D

I am going to Perimeter Scholars International (PSI) at Perimeter Institute. Unfortunately I will have to go through this insane admission process again but no regrets!
