Decision Dates 2017
Re: Decision Dates 2017
Any idea whether Berkeley is done with admissions ? Seems like they sent a lot of them last Friday, but I was hoping for some more...
Re: Decision Dates 2017
Based on thegradcafe's results search, Berkeley sent out a few acceptances in early March last yeartemigo wrote:Any idea whether Berkeley is done with admissions ? Seems like they sent a lot of them last Friday, but I was hoping for some more...

Re: Decision Dates 2017
CMT at Brown seems to be taking a while; I haven't seen a single decision on gradcafe. Has anyone contacted them or heard any sort of news?
Re: Decision Dates 2017
Anyone yet to hear from U of Rochester?
Re: Decision Dates 2017
I'm still waiting for Rutgers and Berkeley. Why is it taking so long to reject me?
Re: Decision Dates 2017
Did anyone hear from Tufts ?
Re: Decision Dates 2017
Same, especially I need the result from Berkeley to make my decision -_-Frod wrote:I'm still waiting for Rutgers and Berkeley. Why is it taking so long to reject me?
Re: Decision Dates 2017
Does anyone know for sure if university of Washington is finished with acceptances? I know they have sent out a ton but I haven't seen any rejections on grad cafe yet.
Re: Decision Dates 2017
I just got my Washington rejection on Friday.
Re: Decision Dates 2017
Is someone still waiting for UC Berkeley? I saw some acceptances of Grad Cafe, but still :c

Did anyone happen to attend the University of Washington Open House? If so, did you receive any word on possible second round offers, or will the school only be sending out rejections now?

Really? I thought that date was for astronomy. According to the Open House thread, Washington was supposed to have the physics open house this past weekend.tooterfish wrote:As far as I know, the open house is March 30th.manbeard95 wrote:Did anyone happen to attend the University of Washington Open House? Oh. Hm. I'm physics, and they told me to attend the one on the 30-31st. Their email didn't make it out to be astro, either. Maybe they had two dates.manbeard95 wrote:Really? Re: Decision Dates 2017
From the grad cafè about Berkeley:
So if you are still waiting for their response this means that you will probably be rejected soon.Just called them and said that they finished their review and will let every one know this week.

Hi everyone, I'm still waiting on Columbia. Judging from last year's data on grad cafe, it seems they should be giving out more acceptance than they already have. I wonder what happened. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm also waiting for Columbia. I read one post either here or on gradcafe where someone who contacted them said they heard decisions would be done by today, but someone else said they heard it would be by the end of March.mathematicalphysics wrote:Hi everyone, I'm still waiting on Columbia. Re: Decision Dates 2017
I believe their open house is on March 19-20 (according to the post 2017 Open Houses), ie in two weeks... If this is true they'd better send all decisions before the end of March !muonneutrino wrote:I'm also waiting for Columbia. Re: Decision Dates 2017
Anyone else waiting to hear back from Columbia? I was pretty much expecting a rejection at this point but then I saw an acceptance 4 days ago on GradCafe, so I can't tell anymore (I'm in high energy astrophysics). I emailed them but no reply so far
Re: Decision Dates 2017
I emailed Columbia and they said that all decisions will be made by the end of March. From previous years on gradcafe, it looks like they sent out final decisions around March 20th or so. There is a slim chance that we may still get an acceptance, but it doesn't seem likely to be honest.

Re: Decision Dates 2017
Just got this reply: "We expect that the faculty committee on admissions will return all Ph.D. decisions by the end of the week. You will be notified via email when a decision has been reached.", so I guess it should happen pretty soon.
Re: Decision Dates 2017
Does anybody know when Rutgers will send out admission/rejections? On thegradcafe everything has been the same for over two weeks...
Re: Decision Dates 2017
Rutgers has sent out their first round of admissions a while ago, their open house is March 31st so they may be sending more offers after that around the first week of April. They don't notify students if they are on a waitlist or if you are high on their list to receive a second round offer so my suggestion would be contacting the department. Realistically you shouldn't get your hopes up at this point.Frod wrote:Does anybody know when Rutgers will send out admission/rejections? Actually, I received an email from Rutgers Physics on 3/4, which asked if I wanted to be put in the waiting list.dankmemes wrote:Rutgers has sent out their first round of admissions a while ago, their open house is March 31st so they may be sending more offers after that around the first week of April. Re: Decision Dates 2017
I emailed Rutgers on Friday, 3/17, to ask about the status of my application, since I haven't hear anything. This is what I got back:
"Our first and second rounds of students offers went out already. The admissions committee will be providing a list of candidates that will be placed on a waiting list. Please be patient you will hear from us soon."
I take it that I can't expect anything better than a waitlist spot, which is sort of what I expected at this point. So... trying to figure out if I should just accept my first choice now or not. I feel like the other school I didn't hear from is going to get hit hard by budget cuts at some point soon, as they focus a lot on renewable energy, so they are probably off my list even if they come through with an offer.

Re: Decision Dates 2017
If anyone has gotten in to University of Indiana's Astronomy program that isn't planning on attending, can you please turn down your offer of admission? They're my last hope for going to grad school next fall
Re: Decision Dates 2017
So, does anyone know when we should expect some communication from Penn? Hopes aren't high at this point, but it's hard to commit to another university without being officially notified of rejection from my dream school.
Re: Decision Dates 2017
I haven't heard anything from them. I emailed the department 2 days ago and they said the department hasn't made any decision upon my application. Honestly, I don't know whether it is a good sign or a bad sign. No idea whether being rejected, waitlisted or accepted. This is absolutely frustrated.bunnybear wrote:So, does anyone know when we should expect some communication from Penn? Re: Decision Dates 2017
I received the same information via email over a month ago. I think it's their default response. I haven't seen any rejections on gradcafe. I don't think they will formally reject anyone until their incoming class is full. It's cruel, but it makes sense that they want to keep all of their options open.linh119 wrote:I haven't heard anything from them. Yeah, I emailed them yesterday and so far have received no response. Just got my official rejection letter from U Penn. Fairly relieved actually, would have been a pain in the ass to have to suddenly reconsider all options

I still haven't heard back from UPenn and when I called them, they said they're still making admissions decisions. No replies to my emails. Isn't this a bit too late for decisions?

I haven't heard any from them either. I don't know if they'll let us know by April 15th however I supposed we are in their waitlist!phyz wrote:I still haven't heard back from UPenn and when I called them, they said they're still making admissions decisions.
