Congrats! My dream place Unfortunately I was rejected by them. Good luck my friend!violinasb wrote:Unofficial acceptance via email from Princeton. I'm beyond words :'D
Congratulations! Now I'm ultra nervous. I know it'll be a while before I hear back from them, if at all, but I'm really anxious now. Best wishes!violinasb wrote:Unofficial acceptance via email from Princeton. I'm beyond words :'D

You beat me to itgrenupet wrote:MIT rejection up on website...
Given that they sent mass rejection emails today, I guess you may take it as a positive sign.Kartof123 wrote:I got an automated email from u michigan that said applications are still being reviewed and to be patient. I guess this is an (ambiguously) ok sign?
And Harvard too! Jeez.metapuff wrote:Oh man, Stanford and Princeton in the same morning! Feelsgoodman :-')
I'm assuming it's Harvard Physics?metapuff wrote:And Harvard too! Jeez.metapuff wrote:Oh man, Stanford and Princeton in the same morning! Feelsgoodman :-')
Have they already sent a first round ?epluseminus wrote:Does anyone know if UPenn is going to be sending a second round of acceptances?
Wow, congrats to both you and metapuff! Still nothing from Harvard Physics for me, but I am grateful for all the other offers.Goldberry wrote:Yup, harvard physics .
not true. I haven't heard back from 18 schools.... , where >10 of them haven't sent out decisions to anybody yetaewais13 wrote:It seems like this is the end of admissions cycle for most people here. I wish the best of luck for everyone. I still haven't heard back from 13 universities
Did you post to gradcafe as amo? I got an email to check the site and said I was accepted. I didn't get an email from the department or info about funding yet. I got the email pretty late in the day so I assume we'll hear by Monday .muskratsam wrote:Accepted to UConn today, but no mention of funding in the acceptance letter. Did anyone else hear from them? Was funding mentioned?
Nope, I haven't heard a peep. I did see 2 people on gradcafe this morning saying they have interviews next week. So I'm guessing I didn't make the cut and have a rejection coming my way soon.laserfloyd80 wrote:Any info on University of Washington Astronomy?
Yes, right at the end of January. Someone I talked to mentioned that UPenn forgot to send acceptances to half of the students 5 years ago.aewais13 wrote:Have they already sent a first round ?epluseminus wrote:Does anyone know if UPenn is going to be sending a second round of acceptances?
Im thinking the same thing about UW Astronomy and Astrobiology. From looking at previous years it seems like if they don't ask you to do an interview then you won't be getting an acceptance email. Was worth a shot thoughqueenbee wrote:Nope, I haven't heard a peep. I did see 2 people on gradcafe this morning saying they have interviews next week. I also haven't seen a single thing about UH Manoa for Astronomy. Their whole application process was very opaque--when I tried to check if I was complete (one of my recommenders only hit about 3 of my schools), they said they would let me know if it wasn't and the due date on their website contradicted what their email said. I have no clue about them!!
If you're the one who posted on gradcafe about being invited to the open house, it seems that those dates are different from (a couple weeks later than) the open house that students who've been accepted were invited to. could be that you're high on the waitlist and once other students visit and decline their offer there will be a second round.cosmosis wrote:Waitlisted to Columbia Astronomy via email. They invited me to attend the open house though. Is this usual for waitlisted applicants?
It wasn't me but it is interesting that they are inviting multiple waitlisted students for an open house. Thanks for the info!stars_are_fun wrote:If you're the one who posted on gradcafe about being invited to the open house, it seems that those dates are different from (a couple weeks later than) the open house that students who've been accepted were invited to. could be that you're high on the waitlist and once other students visit and decline their offer there will be a second round.cosmosis wrote:Waitlisted to Columbia Astronomy via email. I doubt they are done with interviews as of yet, the post on TGC said they were interviewing roughly 20% of applicants, yet looking at the the application profiles thread out of the many people applying for U Washington Astro only 2 have been contacted (possibly the two the posted on there). Looking at previous years not all of the phone interview requests were sent at the same time. My guess is that multiple professors are conducting interviews and only some contacted their students last Friday. Hopefully there should be more interview requests coming soon.suinvato wrote:Im thinking the same thing about UW Astronomy and Astrobiology. I got one of these as well and the tenor of the message was "aww crap we took too long to get rolling, sorry for short notice but we want to make decisions by next weekend so everything must happen ASAP". I would assume if you haven't heard yet, that's a bad sign.dankmemes wrote: I doubt they are done with interviews as of yet, the post on TGC said they were interviewing roughly 20% of applicants, yet looking at the the application profiles thread out of the many people applying for U Washington Astro only 2 have been contacted (possibly the two the posted on there). Should we make a separate thread to figure out who is going to which open houses?theladybug wrote:I don't think Princeton is done sending out offers, at least not the astrophysical sciences department. I haven't gotten my official letter yet, but have been told it will be soon.
For those of us who are going to the same open houses, we should plan to meet!
Only school I haven't heard anything at all from is UCLA. Hopefully they send offers out soon.
Well there goes another one. Good luck for the rest of them guys.suinvato wrote:Im thinking the same thing about UW Astronomy and Astrobiology. Thread has been made! Hopefully everyone will help by commenting with the dates they know of!cosmosis wrote:Should we make a separate thread to figure out who is going to which open houses?theladybug wrote:I don't think Princeton is done sending out offers, at least not the astrophysical sciences department. Wait, Monday is a holiday? Lincoln's birthday is a thing? I go to school in the states and did not know that that's a thing... Is it actually?HenryB wrote:It is weekend and Monday is Lincoln's birthday observed in US. So we shouldn't expect anything until Tuesday?
