Re: Decision Dates 2017
When oh when will we hear from Columbia and Harvard? I spoke to someone from Columbia almost two weeks ago and he said (without me even asking about admission dates, it was about something else entirely) "by the way we'll have a second look at applications this Monday (that would have been the 31st) and will let you know soon!"
HELP I'm going crazy and my fiance sighs every time I look at my phone haha

Rejections are always tough, hope you get into your 2nd choice school! And thumbs up for tenure...anirekj wrote:There goes my dream of Stanford applied physics. I seriously loved this school. Hopefully I will get a tenure there some day
Re: Decision Dates 2017
I got an invite to Brandeis' open house. Does anyone know anything about what this is like, how many students they invite, what percentage of those they accept?
Re: Decision Dates 2017
Minnesota has sent some offers to international students yesterday as per gradcafe posts. Anyone knows if they are done?

I saw the Columbia acceptances in TGC and remembered this post! Hopefully you received good news!magdalenasophie wrote:When oh when will we hear from Columbia and Harvard?
Re: Decision Dates 2017
I didn't receive one. Don't know if they are done or not. As per past years trend, looks like they won't notify wait listed until March.bunnysid wrote:Minnesota has sent some offers to international students yesterday as per gradcafe posts. Anyone knows if they are done?
Re: Decision Dates 2017
Has anyone reached out to Harvard, Columbia or Johns Hopkins astronomy programs? Wondering when we will start hearing back from them.
Re: Decision Dates 2017
From previous years the trend is that they send all the offers within 2 -3 days and then declare waitlist after some days. So I feel it may be the waitlist or rejection.xkcd0803 wrote:I didn't receive one. Don't know if they are done or not. Can I just say -- while freely admitting my bias because I did get into Harvard and am probably going to end up declining it -- that judging from your other posts I think you both will be JUST FINEYiiiiii wrote:I still have nothing on my application page.. Got an email reply from Harvard CfA. They will notify all applicants by the end of today or latest by tomorrow. Columbia Astro will also send decision today. Was told that they have almost finalised the decisions yesterday.

I was the one from before, 1/23. They didn't make it sound like they were still making decisions at that time, but maybe your interview was later than mine.
Re: Decision Dates 2017
Oh hello! Looks like we're going to be overlapping at some visits My interview was on Jan 16th, so no clue. Maybe you're just such a rock star they took you before the rest of us!stars_are_fun wrote:ckitc wrote:The one just a bit ago was me. Still nothing from Harvard.

Wasn't Maryland supposed to send out decisions yesterday? Anyone heard back?
Re: Decision Dates 2017
I see a couple of Columbia acceptances in gradcafe. Are the decisions on the website or via email for now?

Any news on Brown or Penn State?
Re: Decision Dates 2017
There were a couple of acceptances from Brown on thegradcafe. I haven't seen anything about Penn State. I've also applied there for the Physics Ph.D. but haven't heard anything.TheTacoPrincess wrote:Any news on Brown or Penn State?

So far I've just received an unofficial offer via email with no updates on the website. Email says formal offers will be sent next week. Nope, the website still has the same message, decision was only via email.
Edit: Whoops, looks like violinasb beat me to it! Also, HOLYSHITIGOTINTOMIT! I didn't think I would get in anywhere, this is surreal.

Congrats to queenbee and metapuff and everyone who got into MIT!
I haven't heard anything from them yet. I'm slightly considering hitchhiking my way to Boston, kicking down the door, and demanding they tell me my application status. (Kidding... mostly.)

Re: Decision Dates 2017
I might be wrong (and I hope so), but it seems there's no more hope for the ones (including me...) who didn't get an email from MIT today...
I have just checked the profile thread of last year, and every admitted one says they were admitted on 2/11 (Thursday of second week of Feb) via email, whereas every rejected one says they knew the results via website on 2/12 (Friday of the same week)..
I hope this year's schedule might be slightly different from the last year's one, but that's what happened last year...
Congrats to everyone who got into MIT!! And, for those like me, good luck for the rest of our application!!

Lest I be too pleased with myself, got a rejection from Berkeley today.

Re: Decision Dates 2017
I got an email from Stanford Physics asking for two copies of my official transcript to be mailed. Don't know what this means, but I am taking it as a positive sign.
Re: Decision Dates 2017
So did I, which is a bit weird—do you remember if they asked for our official transcripts when we sent in our apps? I'd be surprised if I forgot to send them my transcripts when I applied, but would also be surprised if they just planned on getting transcripts from people so long after the deadline. I believe Stanford asked for two copies of official applications at the time of the application.
Re: Decision Dates 2017
Well, I got the same request from the applied physics department a while ago and I took it as a positive sign, but eventually I got rejected. So I would say don't read into it. It's just a policy thing. (Looking back, I think it's hilarious that they have to get official transcripts to finalize rejections -- and it's kinda mean to do that)HydrogenAndTime wrote:metapuff wrote:So did I, which is a bit weird—do you remember if they asked for our official transcripts when we sent in our apps?
