Should you email adcomms if a paper is accepted mid-app?

If you're at the waiting for decisions stage of your application, and you find out that a paper you submitted to Prestigious Journal X has been accepted, would/should you email adcomms telling them this? Pros: 1) It could help your application 2) They might want to know stuff like this. Cons: 1) Adcomms hate being bothered, and some Universities explicitly say not to email them after an application has been sent in, so it could equally hurt your application. What do people think? Yea or nay?

Did you already mention that you had submitted or were planning to submit a paper in your application?
In physics/astronomy, almost every paper that is submitted is accepted eventually.
So, if you already mentioned it, I think they can safely assume it would be accepted in the not-too-distant future.

I disagree. Anyone can submit a paper. PRL has acceptance rate of around 35%.

Probably you already have your answer and just want a confirmation. The pros definitely outweighs the cons. The administrative assistant who takes care of paperwork hates being bothers, not the professors on the admission committee who actually read your application.
