Different question on Astrophysics

Hi,
i m xtrimly sorry 4 this qsn in grad school forum.But i think u can ans this qsn well.
What is the starting monthly salary of an astrophysicist as a teacher of university or scientist in Nasa in other research centers.

That question totally depends on the region and who you work for. Giving a ballpark figure really wouldn't be fair.

I think the starting salary isn't the issue in today's climate.
It's be glad you even get in somewhere. And then from there
you have to bring in grant money. But, I've heard of a couple
of starter salaries (one in NY and the other in GA) and they
were both about $63,000 for a starter professor. One of them
had to get grant money within 2 years or they would be booted
which is a shorter time frame than the tenure decision of 5-7 years.
Plus as a university starting professor you have to get the
right students to start off with or if a student leaves or isn't so
good, that could sink you.
