heidelberg Physics

  • This has become our largest and most active forum because the physics GRE is just one aspect of getting accepted into a graduate physics program.
  • There are applications, personal statements, letters of recommendation, visiting schools, anxiety of waiting for acceptances, deciding between schools, finding out where others are going, etc.

You're not going to get many responses here on this topic as this is a primarily American forum, but my experience with Bonn last year was they also told me late January but for whatever reason the decision came in mid-Feb. So I wouldn't rule anything out just yet... they did tell me during the interview point though that in Germany you interview a lot more candidates than not, so maybe a third to a half of those interviewed are accepted in the end.

I also remember though that the MPI in Munich just waitlisted me without mentioning anything and I only learned in April or so that I was rejected despite similar timelines, so being waitlisted may be another possibility.

Personally I would wait another week and send an email to whoever arranged the interviews asking what the status is, as it's a fairly standard thing to send such queries.
