emailing professors after application?

  • This has become our largest and most active forum because the physics GRE is just one aspect of getting accepted into a graduate physics program.
  • There are applications, personal statements, letters of recommendation, visiting schools, anxiety of waiting for acceptances, deciding between schools, finding out where others are going, etc.

emailing professors after application?

Post by exy » Wed Feb 16, 2011 7:25 pm

Is it a good idea to email professors who i'm interested in working with at this time, just to say that i'm really interested in their work and would really like to go to their school? A lot of "unofficial" acceptances for this school has already been sent out, so at this point i think that there's a really good chance i wouldn't get in anyways. is it worth a shot to contact them?

If it's for this app season and you haven't already talked with said professors I would advise against. If it's for next year, go ahead.
