What is your dream school?

  • This has become our largest and most active forum because the physics GRE is just one aspect of getting accepted into a graduate physics program.
  • There are applications, personal statements, letters of recommendation, visiting schools, anxiety of waiting for acceptances, deciding between schools, finding out where others are going, etc.

If you could just pick ONE school that is guaranteed to accept you, which would be that dream school?

Harvard MIT Princeton, Satford berk cal corn

My personal preference, without being to any of the schools:

Stanford, Berkeley, Caltech - High Cost of living

MIT, Harvard - In Boston, don't like huge cities.

Princeton and Cornell - Princeton wins only because of smaller overall school body. I'd feel more comfortable in a smaller school.

CalTech. I know it has such a low female population (being I haven't dated in a year), but it is well-known for gravitational physics. Places like Princeton are also big on the mathematics of general relativity, but for some reason schools on the east coast just rub me the wrong way (I received a scholarship to attend a boarding school on the east coast back in high school and really didn't like the environment... might have just been the social-classes I was subjected to, but to me all schools out east give me that feeling). I'm from the west... I'll stick to the west.

Plus, walking through the same halls Kip Thorne and Feynman walked through would be amazing... they also have Sean Carroll :D .
