deferrals?

  • This has become our largest and most active forum because the physics GRE is just one aspect of getting accepted into a graduate physics program.
  • There are applications, personal statements, letters of recommendation, visiting schools, anxiety of waiting for acceptances, deciding between schools, finding out where others are going, etc.

deferrals?

How hard is it to get deferral on admission for the "top 10" physics grad schools?

I would suggest not appying, but going through the motions, like getting recs and GRE done. If your burnt out but know you want to continue on later find something else to do for a year or 2. Make sure though, that you have letters from people that you can request. Some universities will keep them for you to use anytime you need. Also keeping in contact with Professors and keeping them updated in your activities will make it more likely they will remember you. Lastly, read books like "a Ph.D. is not enough", "Getting what you came for", or others of that type. You might also want to talk to your advisor or mentor. Good luck...
