Crap, I don't think I can go to the JHU open house, my band is playing that Saturday

Most probably yes. I can't really diss the place just on the basis of location without ever visiting. And they are paying for the travel, so I am not really losing anything.

In the above link you can see that it was on sunday and monday last year too and they have switched part of the dates but forgot to fix the link names at the top. The point is that it says that the open house is on Sunday the 29th. Note that if it was referring to last year the 29th would be a Saturday.
We will see what happens then the first acceptance come in

Not surprising - they try to sync up their dates with the other nearby schools (NYU, Princeton, Yale, SUNY's, etc). Given that NYU is on the 27th, it makes sense that theirs would start the following day. I suppose they figure most of us will be on break... or that if we aren't, we'd rather by in NYC checking things out then sitting in lecture!

well it coincides with caltech and Madison as well... those are popular weekends because they are just out of spring break and believe everybody else is on spring break as well (WRONG!!!!)

Is anyone else going to have a Cornell/Penn conflict on the weekend of the 27th? I hate to have to miss one of them, although I guess it's impossible for every school to have different dates.

You can always visit on your own... that is what I am doign with Penn State, but I have friends on Philly where i can stay

True, and Cornell's letter actually said that they would still accommodate you even if it was on another date, but I feel like you would get a lot more information during the official visit.

I know...wtf are these schools thinking? I thought MIT would be the latest one. You would think that it would be helpful for them to make the weekends earlier so they get decisions from people earlier (and can admit people on the waitlist before 4/15).
