who's applying to UCSB?

  • This has become our largest and most active forum because the physics GRE is just one aspect of getting accepted into a graduate physics program.
  • There are applications, personal statements, letters of recommendation, visiting schools, anxiety of waiting for acceptances, deciding between schools, finding out where others are going, etc.

who's applying to UCSB?

How do you check if they've received the supplemental materials (rec letters, s.o.p., etc) ?
Logging in the online application it says

"we have received the following:
Statement of Purpose (not needed, not verified, or not yet received)
Undergrad Official Transcripts (not needed, not verified, or not yet received)
Graduate Official Transcripts (not needed, not verified, or not yet received)
Name of Recommender #1 (not needed, not verified, or not yet received)
Name of Recommender #2 (not needed, not verified, or not yet received)
Name of Recommender #3 (not needed, not verified, or not yet received)"

What does that mean? :roll:
It's the only school that ask for letter, statement of purpose, personal history, and C.V. to be mailed directly to them. It would have been easier if they would just allow us to submit these things online.

That means they haven't received anything, and that you haven't filled up the "recommenders" part of the application.

It says the same for me, though I overnighted it and it "got there" on Dec. 15th. So I'm hoping that means they just haven't updated it into their system online yet... otherwise, uh oh?

that should be the case. I sent my transcripts more than 2 weeks ago.
well, nothing we can do about it now.

on a completely unrelated topic, I just finished my astrophysics final :D
I'm done!! (just want to say it)

yay for finals ending!!!! I got all my final grades today. It wasn't so bad! Hopefully we'll be finishing finals at UC SB this time next year... :lol:

I just hope i also did well on my quantum final.

I applied to UCSB last year, and they didn't update their stuff for weeks after the deadline. So don't panic.

I filled out all the forms and sent in letters before deciding not to apply -- it turns out they don't accept transfer credit for any graduate classes taken as an undergrad, which would set me back a year =/
