Should I transfer in undergrad?

  • This has become our largest and most active forum because the physics GRE is just one aspect of getting accepted into a graduate physics program.
  • There are applications, personal statements, letters of recommendation, visiting schools, anxiety of waiting for acceptances, deciding between schools, finding out where others are going, etc.

Should I transfer in undergrad?

Post by OkCuh » Sat Jun 01, 2024 5:05 pm

So I was recently accepted to UC Irvine as a first year and plan on being a physics major. I plan on going to grad school for physics. I am also considering trying to transfer after one or two years to a better institution such as Berkeley/UCLA.

I know one of the most important factor for PhD admissions is research experience. Do you think it would be better to just stay at UCI for four years where I would have the ability to create deeper connections with faculty? Or would there be any potential harm in transferring to another school after two years?
