If not planning to attend, please decline the offer.

  • This has become our largest and most active forum because the physics GRE is just one aspect of getting accepted into a graduate physics program.
  • There are applications, personal statements, letters of recommendation, visiting schools, anxiety of waiting for acceptances, deciding between schools, finding out where others are going, etc.

Hello all,

A physics undergraduate from India here. Had applied to 11 places in the US for a PhD in Condensed Matter Theory - Got rejected at 9, waitlisted at Ohio State University and yet to hear from the other place. If anyone who had applied to CMT has received an offer from OSU but is not planning to attend, please decline the offer. Can't be more grateful. Many thanks!

I heard that the OSU waitlist is less due to waiting for responses from accepted students, but rather because they are unsure of how much funding they have. But that's hearsay, so take it lightly.
