Just read about how UPenn was not accepting new admissions this upcoming year.

Is there any internal info about other schools planning to do the same?

Update to this: Physics and Astro are still accepting applications. Other departments in the college like Math are not. I guess you really have to see and hope that each individual department has updated it's page regarding this and not just rely on what the college is saying.

This is shocking. I was considering to apply for UPenn this year but I guess it's impossible now.

On the bright side, I'm glad they do announce this. You know, it is within the realm of possibility that some schools are in the same situation, but still welcoming applications anyway for getting the application fees from us miserable applicants.
They could just fill up the available places with those who brought their own funding, after all.

Hopefully, at least this starts a trend that is followed by other schools to come clean.
"Hey I got no funded places this year, don't bother to apply if you got no money"

I hope they can be honest like that. :(

While on their website, they have not announced it and still not taken down stipulation specifically for application next fall(i.e. cancelling of gres)...

If Upenn even had no funding for new Phd's, imagine the situations at other universities.
