Prospects in Different Fields of Condensed Matter Experiment

What's the outlook on CME nowadays. I've heard CMT is saturated and super competitive (as expected), but what's CME like? I know Quantum Information has a good bit of money and hype flowing in right now, so there's lots of opportunity. But how are other topics? Like High Tc Superconductivity, Topological insulators, soft-matter etc.What's competitive and what's not so much
