I'm an international student who did undergrad in a big US public school. I am taking a gap year and working in physics research right now. I'm also waiting on a greencard but I don't think I will have it in time for the applications. My question is, should I apply for grad schools now or wait another year for it? I had a very hard time as an F-1 student in undergrad and don't wanna deal with that kind of crap again. My previous PI also said that international students have 1/5 chance of getting into grad school in my undergrad institution. Now, this is probably exaggerated because I went to a public school, but I heard I'm still at a disadvantage due to the international status. Thoughts?
