Canadian Average converts to GPA?

Hello!
I'm a fourth-year physics student from Canada. I am applying to US PhD programs in a few months, for entry in Fall 2020. Will my Canadian average or a calculated GPA with US rules be used in applications?
I'm wondering because my average in Canada (given in percent) is 79.6%, rounding to 80% which is an A-, but due to fluctuating marks, calculating my US GPA is something like a 3.3, which I think is lower than A-. Does US GPA get calculated for each class and averaged, or will my Canadian 80% average get converted to whatever 80% is in GPA? Or will my Canadian average be considered in application?
Thank you!
