Recommendation via Hotmail
Recommendation via Hotmail
I requested a Prof. for LoR, and he gave me his Hotmail email address. He said that he does not check university email account frequently. Is it alright to send LoR via Hotmail? I mean would this looked with suspicion? However, any written materials would be sent with University logo(i mean verified by his office.) I am international.
Re: Recommendation via Hotmail
I think this might be considered strange/abnormal in North America. Can you explain this to your professor? There are some schools that even say you must use a verifiable email address, which usually means an institutional email address that is listed on the department webpage or something similar.
Re: Recommendation via Hotmail
Most university email systems have an option to set mail forwarding so this shouldn't be a problem. I would hope that a professor of physics would be sagacious enough to at least send a letter of recommendation from their university account, or use it on official forms.
Re: Recommendation via Hotmail
Thank you TakeruK & twistor for reply. Our university maintains very rudimentary webpage (third world ) . I doubt if it is updated once a year. That is why no one uses university email account. So i think i would send paper recommendation wherever possible.
