I requested a Prof. for LoR, and he gave me his Hotmail email address. He said that he does not check university email account frequently. Is it alright to send LoR via Hotmail? I mean would this looked with suspicion? However, any written materials would be sent with University logo(i mean verified by his office.) I am international.

I think this might be considered strange/abnormal in North America. Can you explain this to your professor? There are some schools that even say you must use a verifiable email address, which usually means an institutional email address that is listed on the department webpage or something similar.

Most university email systems have an option to set mail forwarding so this shouldn't be a problem. I would hope that a professor of physics would be sagacious enough to at least send a letter of recommendation from their university account, or use it on official forms.

Thank you TakeruK & twistor for reply. Our university maintains very rudimentary webpage (third world :( ) . I doubt if it is updated once a year. That is why no one uses university email account. So i think i would send paper recommendation wherever possible.
