I worked in the group of a very famous professor. However, I only talked to him once and mostly worked with a postdoc. I got a publication from this experience. The professor remembers what I did and agreed to write a letter for me, but I'm concerned that he doesn't know me that well. Should I ask him to write a letter?
Another professor told me that it is a great bonus to have reputed professors to write letters for me, and thinks I should ask this famous professor to write a letter. Still, I am not sure how important the reputation the letter writer is -- as I can easily find someone who knows me better to write a letter.
