Impact of late letters

Post by mousaiii » Wed Dec 16, 2020 9:23 am

I finished most of my applications due Dec.15 but one of my recommender hasn't submitted the letters. I reminded them multiple times and they told me they could meet the deadlines. Do professors see a different deadline than i do? Will schools accept late letters? I really hope my applications aren't down the drain

Most schools accept late letters (as long as they haven't already committed your application to the rejection pile, I suppose). To be honest, most departments with deadlines this week probably won't start reviewing applications until next week at the earliest, and I'd be surprised if they get anything but the most preliminary of sweeps done next week because of the holidays. I'd say as long as your professor has the letter in before Christmas, you're probably fine.
