UCSB app

Post by kroner » Wed Dec 16, 2009 1:51 pm

The app for UC Santa Barbara has a section on financial support that's sort of throwing me off. They ask how much money I'm applying for. I don't really know what is a reasonable amount. I'm afraid if it's too high they'll throw out my application and all have a good laugh and if it's too low I won't be able to eat. What do offers for first year students usually look like? Anyone else applying to UCSB want to share what they did here?

I didn't fill that part out. All other applications had that in an optional section. I assumed it was optional for UCSB as well.

Also, wasn't the app due yesterday?

I had the same concern.

Not to worry though, someone at my career service center called them up to ask about this. The sum you request does not affect your admittance. It's separate. Also, they suggested a number like $47,000 for a first-year nonresident (understanding that it will significantly decrease upon becoming a California resident for the second year onwards).
