second author on a publication

How big of a deal is to be the second author of an article published in a highly respected journal, say Physical Review B?
Obviously it's not as significant as being the first author. But can it still help your grad school application a lot?

being the 5th or 4th will help a lot too. you may have been shocked with publishing it in PhysRew.

I sure hope so! I'm on a publication with about 15 other authors (a small paper for particle physics) listen in alphabetical order, and I'm told that it should help a good bit! If you're second author on a Phys Review B paper, I'd imagine you'd get quite a few bonus points

Even if you're the last author -- a publication is a publication, and research experience is better than no research experience.
