I am an undergrad sophomore in an t20 America university this year. I just started to find research position in my school.
I plan to apply Condensed matter experiment. But I really like the research direction of a professor who is doing Condensed matter theory. I have contacted him and meet with him several time. He seems willing to take me to do researches. I will definitely do some CME in the future. But for now, I really want to do research with this CMT professor.
Does it matter if I do CMT right now?

It doesn't matter which subfield of physics your undergraduate research is in.
