Applying for University of Maryland. They list a statement of purpose as one of their requirements but provide no description for it. They also have a supplementary application with a prompt: "Please write about your goals and your research interests in physics. In addition, tell us about any research experiences you have had. (Please note: this is different from your Statement of Purpose.)"
How is different from what should be included in the usual SOP?? Suggestions? Anyone else applying to Maryland and have a better idea of the difference?

Re: Maryland SOP
As some of uni ask, you should keep it short as much as possible. Try to focus on aspects what make you a strong candidate; your research experience and future goals, specifically what you will do in your phd and how it fits with your background.
