Volunteer Research in CV?

Hello everyone,

I've been doing research with a professor (who will be writing me a LoR) for the past few months. I'm in the midst of writing out the CV and personal statement right now and had a question; is it acceptable to mention volunteer research on the CV? I'm not really sure if me being a volunteer as opposed to having course credit or being paid really makes a difference but I wanted to double check before I submit something totally incorrect.

Thanks.

I think it's fine and I put it on my CV.

Nope, I don't think it matters at all. If anything, they'll be happy that you showed the initiative to volunteer for unpaid research. Good luck!

I think it's totally fine. You can mention volunteer research on your CV. A resume is a presentation of your qualifications for employer. You must be honest and positive about all your experience, capabilities and skills. You can also search cv online and choose the best format for your resume. :)
