Do you think it would look really bad if I just got straight B's in my 4 chemistry classes this semester? :(

Not if you send your transcripts before they update.

haha, that's what I was thinking! But won't they ask me to send an updated transcript once fall grades are posted?

I don't know. I actually had a really good semester, enough to cover for some otherwise poor performances, but I won't be able to get new transcripts until Dec. 17. :(

And if they ask for new ones, well that at least means you made the first cuts, right?

I sure hope they don't ask for updated transcripts. I have been living with the assumption that this semester's grades aren't too important, so as long as I get Cs or better, I am fine. I hope my slacking off doesn't create any problems.

I'm most worried about the schools with January 15th deadlines. It seems like there's just enough time to get the transcripts to these schools once grades have been released for this term. Its as if they chose the deadline to be the earliest possible date where they could still be sure to get fall grades. Maybe I'll just send all my transcripts now and wait to see who asks me for an updated one...

I wondered if schools with later deadlines would be suspicious about transcripts that are sent unnecessarily early. I mean, on the one hand, it seems reasonable that since a lot of schools have early deadlines, a lot of students would just send all of their applications in mid December. Only one of my schools has a Jan 15 deadline. The rest are Dec 15 or the first week of January, so I think I could get away with sending mine before this semesters grades come out.

I think you are being way too paranoid. Many people submit applications well before the deadline, w/o their fall grades.

I know, I am not really worried about that. I am a bit worried that they will ask for an updated transcript. That's an issue I could do without. My grades this semester are certainly lackluster.

I think as long as you don't get any Ds or Fs you will be OK. Once they admit you, they will just want you to send your transcripts after you graduate.
