Physics GRE Discussion Forums

Hey everyone,

I got admitted yesterday to MIT and Stanford (is this really happening!?). My focus is on high energy theory. I am not sure what I want to do (strings, beyond the SM, etc). What would you choose if you were in my spot? I am in a serious dilemma here!

Same here. Also, I know that Stanford didn't say anything about its visiting weekend... but are they at the same time?!?

I would choose Stanford. In my opinion its theory group is larger and more well rounded.

I'm also trying to answer this question for myself, but I'm more interested in CMT / QI and to some extent their overlap with hep-th. For this kind of stuff Stanford seems more ``exciting'', but I think MIT is more well-rounded and is a ``safer'' choice, in case I change my mind about what I want to do. Anyway, will be visiting both schools, so I'll see you guys there.
