Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knows of any graduate schools that are strong in more than one field but is not a top 10-20?

I had a list that was very hep-th oriented ( my less selective schools were strong in hep-th), but I no longer want to apply to some of those school* and I would rather apply to programs that are strong in general.

I seem to be running into only the top programs always, but I am not too familiar with other fields as much. Would BU be a such a school? Strong in many fields?




*I am unsure about pursuing hep-th.

Yeah that's what I meant. Basically big schools in the midwest or around top schools are your best bet. Off the top of my head, that's Ohio, Michigan (though that's top 20), Wisconsin (also high), Wash-U St. Louis, Rutgers, US(outhern)C(alifornia), Irvine, Boston U, U Toronto,...

Thank you for the suggestions! Looks like my list is not too bad, then. I am already applying to USC, Rutgers, Irvine, and Boston.

I have been debating since forever whether or not to apply to Michigan. I am uninterested in Wisconsin, and I need to check out Wash U. U Toronto is on my maybe list.

What do you think of Brown University?

I'm totally uninformed about Brown.

Thanks for the reply... I might just apply anyways. I was going to apply for hep-th anyways, but I am going to just apply as undecided.
