Graduate school entry

I am a student from India. My UG institution is NIT trichy. No reputation in physics but top 15 in India for engineering. My GPA is 6.2/10. I have no great research experience. However I am very good at physics knowledge. Hoping to get above 900 in PGRE. Please advice what are my chances and where should I apply.

Before I could advise you on anything, a subfield is in order.

With a 6.2/10 and little research experience, your options in the US may be a little... limited.
