Come to think of it, I know that Columbia's MS in Applied Physics also has a deadline at the end of this month.

I'm willing to bet, that for the right student, pretty much any school will take a late application. (Uh, too bad I'm not necessarily that student.)

According to Rice's website, they accept applications until the 1st of April

I've also heard stories (but haven't tried to substantiate) of students that are major scholarship holders applying after deadlines and getting acceptances.

Last time I went to physics grad school I also got turned down by the top schools and ended up being accepted on May 16th, with an RA ship. In addition, they employed me for the summer before school started.
