UW Seattle or CU Boulder
UW Seattle or CU Boulder
Academics aside, which town do people think would be better to live in: Boulder or Seattle? I have to choose between these two.
Re: UW Seattle or CU Boulder
how does Seattle at all compare to Boulder?
Boulder = surrounded by gorgeous mountains, huge number of sunny days per year, close to great ski/snowboarding
Seattle = ?

Re: UW Seattle or CU Boulder
I can't really say.. I've been to Boulder but never Seattle. I hear Seattle has excellent absurdly cheap food, nearby ski resorts (although not world class like COs), its a technological powerhouse, near the ocean. Canada is near by.. if that counts for anything lol
Re: UW Seattle or CU Boulder
I was only in Seattle briefly, but it seemed like a pretty cool city. Do you want a more urban or more outdoorsy environment? Also do you like being damp or cold more?
Re: UW Seattle or CU Boulder
Outdoorsy is definitely better. I hate San Fransisco. haha. But I've heard that Seattle is a "big city with a small city feel". But then again, Denver is like that too. As long as I can snowboard, I'm set. I actually enjoy cold AND dampness quite a bit. Spent 23 years in the SF Bay Area.. it's time for a change.
Re: UW Seattle or CU Boulder
Personally I would go with Seattle because of the people and just the surrounding. Boulder is beautiful and all, but I am a city slicker

Re: UW Seattle or CU Boulder
I have a lot of family that live in Seattle (I've never lived there, just visited). It's a great place to visit; I would hate to live there. It's got sort of an older-snobby feel to it. There are a lot of young people living in Seattle, but I just feel like there's a lot of older, snobby people there as well. Sort of drives me nuts. I love college towns and Boulder is a great college town from what I have heard. I'm flying to Colorado in a few hours. I'm not going to Boulder, but I will be driving through it
Personally, I'd say Boulder (even without having ever been there). I might have a biased opinion due to having relatives in Seattle.

I think Seattle is a great city. Very beautiful and hip. I also love being near the ocean. However based on what you've stated as far as your preferences, I bet Boulder would be the better match. World class boarding very close, and fewer rainy days so you can get out and go hiking/climbing/boarding or whatever. It's very outdoorsey. I have a friend who transferred from my class at Cornell after the first year to go to Boulder. He was from Boston and didn't like how small Ithaca was, and he's loving Boulder as far as I can tell.
