Selling myself for too low?

After asking for a LOR, one of my professors said that you are selling yourself for too low. You should try better. However, I have applied to these universities seeing my seniors admissions.

TOEFL - 114, GRE not taken
MSc Physics - IIT Bombay, India ( very reputed) - CPI - 8.59;
BSc Physics - University of Delhi (well known in India) - CGPA - 9.07;
Research experience -
1. Two-month internship at KIT Germany
2. Two projects with profs at IIT Bombay
3. Currently doing a remote project with a prof at KTH, Sweden
No publication

Field - Condensed matter physics (theoretical); Gender - female (if it helps?)
Universities applying/applied to:
Northeastern university
Case western reserve university
UIUC
Indiana uni
Wisconsin Madison
Uni of Notre Dame
Univ of Rochester
Georgetown University
Rice uni
Univ of Utah
Virginia Tech

Is this list fine or should I add more universities that still have deadlines?

In general you should trust the advice of professors who know you personally (especially letter writers!) over internet randos. They know more about you than presents in this profile. It might be hard to find reaches with open deadlines at this point, but I would give it a shot. Maybe look outside the US too, maybe ask the same prof for recommendations.

However, you should definitely keep in mind that you did apply to some good schools, and if you are choosing from among these that is still a great victory. No reason to have severe regrets, and I would still certainly not withdraw any applications. US admissions continues to get more and more competitive, after all.

Hi, I have a similar profile as yours, MSc from IIT Kanpur. I am going to apply in CMP for fall 23. Could you tell what happened with your applications ? I am pretty confused about where to target. Some advice would be really appreciated
