I also applied early and have heard nothing. Most optimistic reading of this is that we're in contention, but they wanted to wait until the full applicant pool before deciding. This also agrees with what they say in their FAQ, though it would be nice to hear anything...

I think it's very early to expect anything from them. They need to review the new applicants from the second deadline so it's gonna take a while to hear back from them. So, I'd say you need to give them a week or two at least.
I applied before first deadline.
What I meant is that they can't send an offer to those who applied early before they finish reviewing the profiles of those who applied by the second deadline. They have to compare us with the new applicants before giving their final decision.

I understand your meaning. OK, let us continue waiting. good luck. But I feel strange that why nobody receives decline. As they said in the website, 'The early deadline, November 1, was created to allow completed applications to receive early consideration. This will allow students early notice to pursue other graduate opportunities if they are not accepted into PSI."

It's been 14 days since the second deadline. Do you think we are gonna hear from them today/next week?

Regular deadline applicant here. Got an interview notice on 26 Feb and had my interview with two faculties on 27 Feb, who told me to 'expect a decision early... not as early as tomorrow though.' To my surprise I got my offer on 29 Feb! They required me to make a decision by 10 Mar, which is much shorter than expected. So what I guess is happening is that they are cycling through applicants and making interviews and/or offers in batches.

And after discussing with my professor and other PSI students I have decided to accept the offer. I hope to see you guys this fall!

I wonder what kind of questions are you guys talking about during interview? Thank you!

Sorry for this late reply (I don't frequent this forum regularly), but in case you still find my reply helpful, it's mostly standard stuffs. They first asked me to introduce myself and my current research project. Then they quizzed me on undergraduate-level physics topics such as Lagrangian/Hamiltonian mechanics, Twin Paradox, Quantum Mechanics - it's like an oral exam if you had one in your university. They asked me why I applied to PSI and if I had any idea what research I want to do here (I underprepared for this one because I thought the program is mostly course-only, then they told me about the winter school and the research essay :? Don't make the same mistake as I!). Finally, I have the chance to ask them some questions about the program. I was also told before the interview that I needed to give a 3-minute presentation on a physics topic of my choice to undergraduate physics students, but that never actually happened.

Overall it lasts for around 30 minutes. It felt semi-formal - not that serious, but still feels like a proper interview. Best of luck!

Hey! Someone on gradcafe made a telegram group chat for people who will be going to PSI in 2020. This is the link to join.
