I'm starting this thread so we can compile a list of results of the test once they start arriving. The objective is to reconstruct the full relationship: raw score - scaled score - percentile. I hope everyone participates.

Here is a compilation of the posted results

raw score - scaled score - %
? - 990 - 96
? - 980 - 95
71 - 890 - 86
52 - 740 - 63

Got a 990 which is 96th percentile. I will edit once the raw score comes in

Isn't this going to depend on which form you had, A, B, or C?

It could. Probably it's a good Idea to write down the type of exam next to your results if you can remeber it. This way we can solve the controversy about C being harder.

knowing that 10,000 students in the world take the PGREs every year, how many do you think you'll need to gather a meaningful sample for statistical analysis? You'd also have to keep in mind that people are more willing to report if they have a high score. Finally, whose interest is it in to have this analysis? If there is some strong correlation between difficulty and form numbers, will a student try less on the easier form, and harder on the harder form?

Waste of time..

61 participants per type of test are needed to sample the whole results space. There are only 61 types of scores ranging from 990 to 390 in steps of 10. A statistical analysis considering the 10,000 students is not necessary because ETS already did it for us  . We only want to gather the results.

By the way, we don't need to sample the whole results space to make the comparison between different types of exams. At least I would be more than satisfied if we compare the difficulty of achieving scores between 990 and 700. We don't even need all consecutive results. We could just interpolate some.

It's mainly curiosity. It's a physicists forum, what do you expect? Not every pursuit of knowledge needs a direct application.

Exactly. ETS already did the analysis by giving us the percentiles. Thus, if we knew the raw score and corresponding percentile for just a few test takers per test form would be enough to get a good idea. The fact that only people who scored better are more likely to report won't effect anything since the percentiles are already assigned.

Got my score report today.
71 - 890 - 86 %

I got 75 correct, 17 incorrect, 7 omits.
