Engineering Statics - baffling question**URGENT**

Post by mother » Thu Mar 22, 2012 4:06 pm

Hi guys. I know this sort of questions are peanuts to you but I'm unsure how to go about it. I was in the midst of preparing for an upcoming test and I was going through a list of problems and I'm stumped by this one. Hope you guys could help me out asap as my tutor is not coming in today and the test is later this afternoon so I have ultimately nobody to look for guidance at the moment. Would appreciate if your method could be written out clearly for me to comprehend and refer to. Thank you in advance.

1. Problem 1: Three forces act on the post as shown in Figure 1. If a=24 degree, F1=326N, F2=451N and F3=469N, determine:
(a) The magnitude of the resultant of F1, F2 and F3 (Unit:N)
(b) The moment about A due to F1, F2 and F3 (Unit:Nm)

Problem 2 : Three forces act on the plate as shown in Figure 2. If a=26 degree, F1=22N, F2=62N and F3=41N, use a single force acting on a point along CD to replace the three force. Determine:
(a) The magnitude of the single force(Unit:N)
(b) The interaction point on CD measured from D (Unit:mm)
