Stark effect

Hi all,

Does anyone know a quick way to get the number of splittings? I understand the basic idea that linear stark effect only mixes eigenfunctions of opposite parity, but I heard there way a way to figure out the number of splittings based on total j quantum number.

I can't find this in any of the books.
